Situated in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, El Ayuntamiento Restaurante-Cafetería stands out as a charming bar & grill that perfectly balances convenience with a relaxed atmosphere. Located right across from the City Hall (El Ayuntamiento), this spot is ideal for those looking to take a break, savor a quality coffee, or enjoy a casual drink in a friendly setting.
El Ayuntamiento Restaurante-Cafetería doesn't shy away from offering a premium experience, reflected in slightly higher prices compared to other local options—€1.40 for a coffee with milk is a modest indulgence for the rich, expertly brewed coffee they serve. The sensory delight of the warm, aromatic cup invites you to unwind, whether you're waiting for an appointment or simply soaking in the lively city vibe.
The atmosphere here is notably relaxed and welcoming. Guests often mention the friendly, prompt service that makes repeat visits a must. While some have noted that service can occasionally be a bit slow, this is often met with a warm smile and the laid-back spirit characteristic of the Canary Islands. Particularly memorable is the genuinely attentive service late into the evening, where the staff’s welcoming demeanor transforms a simple drink into a memorable experience—highlighted by expertly crafted cocktails like the sparkling Campari, which pleasantly tantalizes the palate.
The space itself offers a comfortable retreat from the city's bustle, making it a perfect spot to gather with friends or spend some quiet time alone without feeling rushed. The one caveat is that the establishment operates on a cash-only basis, a small detail to keep in mind when planning your visit.
In essence, El Ayuntamiento Restaurante-Cafetería is more than just a bar & grill; it’s a local gem where quality coffee, amiable staff, and a convenient location coalesce into an experience that feels both authentic and inviting. Whether you’re popping in for a quick caffeine fix or settling down for a leisurely evening drink, this spot captures the genuine spirit of Las Palmas with warmth and a touch of sophistication.

:) You will pay a premium here compared to most other places in Las Palmas. Cash Only as well. €1.40 for a coffee with Milk for example. Very good coffee so why not if you are waiting for an appointment across the road at the City Hall. They are conveniently located across from the City Hall (El Ayuntamiento) and provide a nice, relaxed setting. I would not have turned the music on that they play in the background and would have opted for natural sounds. Still it is an elevator style music and disappears without being an earwig. Left a tip to make the total €2 as they warmly welcomed me to sit down and wait while they opened for 8pm.

I am giving it 4 atar because of the Service not really for the food because I really only had something to pick that wasn’t really representative. But the service a woman on her own at 10pm wanting a place to sit and have a drink normally gets met with a cold shoulder or relegated to the worst possible space . Here the evening women staff were friendly and they do a great Campari with sparkling water . They advised me on what I could order as a light Tapa and gave me a half portion .. as well as sitting me in a place which was not too windy ( it’s cool in the evening and I requested something out of a draft ) on the terrace .
